When the moon rises over the screen, Tubi is turning the lights on.

The free ad‑supported streaming service owned by Fox Corporation has just widened its horror arsenal for September. Four new titles—1408, The Descent, Ouija: Origin of Evil, and The Witch—have landed on the platform, and a permanent “Terror on Tubi Hub” is now available to fans year‑round. The move follows a steady climb in the service’s monthly active users, which hit 110 million in August 2026, cementing Tubi as one of the United States’ largest FAST (free ad‑supported streaming television) providers.

Tubi launched on April 1 2014 and is headquartered in San Francisco, California. Its catalog exceeds 13,000 hours of movies and television, plus more than 200 live‑TV channels. The platform has never offered a premium subscription tier; viewers watch for free, interrupted only by short advertising breaks. According to Tubi’s own metrics, the user base grew from 80 million in May 2024 to 97 million in January 2025, reached 100 million in June 2025, and climbed to 110 million in August 2026. In 2025, the company was ranked 33rd on Fast Company’s list of “The World’s 50 Most Innovative Companies.”

The new Terror on Tubi Hub is a year‑long destination that curates horror titles into themed collections that shift with the seasons. The hub also spotlights Tubi Originals, including the 2026 releases Buzzkill and R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2. According to a press release from Tubi, the hub will feature more than 13,000 hours of horror programming and will be accessible on all major platforms—from smart TVs to mobile devices.

September’s four new horror releases are:

* 1408 – A 2007 psychological horror film based on Stephen King’s short story. The movie follows author Mike Enslin, played by John Cusack, as he investigates a supposedly haunted hotel room and becomes trapped in a series of terrifying visions.

* The Descent – A 2005 film directed by Neil Marshall that follows a group of friends who become trapped in a cave system and are hunted by a creature known as a crawler. The film has an 87 % rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

* Ouija: Origin of Evil – A 2016 prequel directed by Mike Flanagan. Set in the 1960s, the story follows a family that runs a fake medium act and accidentally summons a real spirit after adding a Ouija board to their routine.

* The Witch – A 2015 folk‑horror film directed by Robert Eggers. The story is set in 17th‑century New England and follows a Puritan family who suspect a witch in their community after a series of deaths.

In addition to these new titles, Tubi’s library already houses popular shows such as Hemlock Grove, Babylon 5, Spartacus, Gotham, and Columbo, as well as notable movies like Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead, Child’s Play, White House Down, Knives Out, and It.

Tubi’s approach to attracting horror enthusiasts hinges on its ad‑supported model and the breadth of its catalog. By offering both blockbuster and arthouse horror films for free, the platform differentiates itself from subscription‑based services that charge a monthly fee. The company’s focus on curated collections and original content aims to keep users engaged and to drive traffic to its advertising partners.

At present, Tubi continues to add new titles to the Terror hub and to expand its original programming slate. The platform’s growth trajectory suggests that it will remain a key destination for horror fans seeking free, on‑demand content throughout 2026 and beyond.
