Scappooses Movies by Moonlight Series Returns for August 2026
The Scappoose Public Library and the city of Scappoose will host the annual Movies by Moonlight outdoor film series this August. The event will take place every Friday night at Heritage Park, located at 52469 S.E. Second St., and will feature four family‑friendly movies projected on a large screen under the stars.
The August lineup begins with National Treasure on Friday, August 7, followed by Cars on August 14, Field of Dreams on August 21, and Forrest Gump on August 28. Each screening will be preceded by a live musical performance: Old Joints will play on the first night, Mo Phillips on the second, Big River Big Band on the third, and The Tiki Men on the final night. Food vendors and themed activities will also be available before the film starts at dusk.
The series is partially funded by a grant from the America 250 Oregon Commission, a program that supports community projects celebrating the United States’ 250th anniversary. The commission, in partnership with Oregon Heritage and the Oregon Historical Society, awarded nearly $60,000 to 21 Oregon organizations in its final grant cycle. Scappoose received a portion of that funding in May 2026, along with grants awarded to groups in Clatskanie and Warren.
